mckenzeeWe spent the afternoon in the worst designed library in the world. The French are of course very proud of it. Someday I’ll tell you about the floorplan, the rush at closing time and the vast windy plain of the roof (which is the main entrance!).
and the above punctuation is correct. The exclamation point is for the phrase within the parentheses, the period is for the sentence outside the parentheses. I may not be correct but I feel stylistically correct.
But today I want to discuss the public computers... When I was younger, I used to get a package of gum that contained eight sweet gumballs and two very sour gumballs. There was no way to tell them apart until the candy shell had dissolved. I loved sharing these with my sisters.
Anyway, the public area of the BN is divided into ten rooms, each of which has six to twelve computers. About 85 percent of these have internet access and the rest are just catalogs. The easiest way to tell them apart is that the ones that are available when you need them won’t have web access.
Jess and I accidentally broke into a bank on the way home. It was about 9 PM and we walked in to the lobby to use the ATM. Jess had already put her card in when the janitor came out, locked the door behind us and said that we would have to hurry up and leave because the bank was closed. He had just forgot to lock the door.
This was on a major street with lots of people going by. He seemed strangely unconcerned about our presence. In the States, I would have expected to be yelled at or maybe even shot. Instead he just seemed annoyed that he had to mop around us.
