Still life with trash

Walking home the other afternoon, I saw a huge bag full of flower arrangements in the dumpster outside the Musée d’Orsay. I salvaged the best bloom off the top and stuck it in my lapel buttonhole for the rest of the evening.

Wandering though the art gallery district (I do live on the rive gauche, after all), I drew the attention of several stylishly dressed hoi pop-pu-pu’s.

I felt like I belonged!
I, too, was pretty, I, too, was mildly subversive!
I, too, was proudly wearing garbage from a worldclass museum!

When I got it home, I dropped it in a jam jar and set it next to my laptop.
