I was meeting with Andrew the Eightysixth, King of Scotland. He was guarded by seven clones, known as The Williams (yes, sometimes I dream in capital letters).
August was known as The Month We Dare Not Name, and so people called it Late July (the 32 through 62).
There was some ritual about dead kings being beheaded, the skulls preserved and painted with the royal crest and the rest of the body being cremated and sealed inside the skull with a large soft cork. These regal skulls were stored in the throne room around The Throne of Bone. This method of postmortum storage was forbidden to nonroyals, but rumors were flying that certain nobles practiced it in secret.
King Andrew the First had founded the kingdom, on the promise that when Andrew the Hundredth died, a democracy would be instated. There was also a subplot about additional secret Williams, all looking exactly like King Andrew. They were careful to never be seen in groups larger than seven.
It is possible King Andrew was actually A William, or that all the Kings and Williams were clones of Andrew the First.
I have got to flesh this out into a story someday...
